This Rookwood Scenic Vellum vase stands 13″ high by 5″ in diameter. It has a beautifully classic form, with nice colors. This vase was decorated by one of Rookwood’s finest  artists, Fred Rothenbusch. He decorated this vessel with a scenic landscape, with tall trees laden with leaves, reflected in a stream, and a grassy meadow, which looks like an oil painting of an early summer morning where the sky is just beginning to turn from its overnight slumber into a sultry summer’s day. The glaze colors are gorgeous in a richly shaded blue and lavender, with shades of green, over a creamy ground, with a rather misty quality to the artwork, really stunning! The scenery is framed by deep blue at the rim and base, which allows the colors in the landscape to really stand out.  This landscape is expertly executed making a wonderfully rich presentation! This beauty is well marked and dated 1920, a perfect period for Rookwood scenic vellums. Fred Rothenbusch’s initials are noted on the base. This impressive vessel is in excellent restored condition for a small drill hole in the base, with generalized factory crazing.  It makes a beautiful presentation!
