Roseville Rosecraft (Early Velmoss Scroll)

Roseville Rosecraft (Early Velmoss Scroll)

Mint condition 1916 Roseville Rosecraft bowl. In the past, some have referred to this pattern as Early Velmoss Scroll. Yellowish/cream background with deeply incised Charles Rennie Mackintosh (now often described as Dard Hunter) roses in burgundy with brown branches and green leaves! Some rust staining under the inside rim, but NO chips, cracks or repairs! I’ve had a few of these in the past and this is the best executed one. The “square rose” is one of the iconic designs of the arts and crafts movement and came to us from Scotland.

This bowl measures 9″ wide and about 3″ tall and like all Velmoss Scroll (sometimes spelled schroll) is unmarked. A true century old vintage icon of the arts and crafts movement which also goes well with art nouveau/deco motifs!
